August One: For Kings and Queens

Image
Welcome to August, the month for kings and Queens. The ones who embody the essence of God’s upper-echelon creative designs; everything God created is impeccable, and I identify with it. The 8th month, when God conceived the ideologies of beauty and ethereal aura, was wired into the medulla oblongata of individuals born within this timeframe. God instilled in us the gift to mettle and succeed, the benevolence to aid humanity, the mantle of kingship to rule, the mindset to persevere and accentuate towards a level of prominence. August One: For Kings and Queens The month that gave us superstars such as the iconic Pop artiste, Michael Jackson, ex-USA president Barack Obama, Usain Bolt, Jason Momoa, the month God gave us people such as you and me. This month is for us; therefore, let us do everything in Thanksgiving and gracefulness.   Come eat tacos with us Come lick ice cream with me What Do You Know About August? A beautiful month ahead I did a small research on what people s...

Life as Fjizzle: More Life, My Star Boy

Image
During the bonfire festival of my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Katsina, I watched as the firewood that Corp members arranged all afternoon and into the late evening gradually burned to ashes. As the woods burnt, the night surreptitiously transcended from bright light to absolute darkness, as the magnitude of the fire reached a frightening latitude. The Police Sheriff badge. I stared at everything with amusement as my contemporaries sipped their palm wine and gyrated to the festival's energetic celebration on this wild night. It was fascinating, I savoured the moment as the positive energy gave me an interesting perspective on life. I was amused as my fellow Corp members disclosed some of their flexibility skills on this evening as they leaped and hopped over the fire. Some of my contemporaries came out unscathed, aha, you flexible bastard. Oh, some didn’t, though; they burnt themselves. “ You seem not to have a praying mother? ” I say to myself. Arranging plan...

2025: The Story So Far...

Image
2025 has been a polarizing year thus far. It has been both interesting and heart-warming, yet equally heart-wrenching. Above all, there has been so much to live for; life hasn't been perfect, albeit each moment in 2025 tells its own story. There is still so much to learn, and that is what I hope I am able to do from now onwards as the new year gradually unravels.  What Really Happened in 2025? On the train to Helsinki In March 2025, I started my own media page, called the Uprising platform (Uprisingplatform.blogspot.com). I am glad to mention that this is a major achievement for me, Adekunle Sunday-Fajana . This platform has provided me with the opportunity to express my ideologies, share my stories, and articulate the biases that align with my narratives.  In the last couple of months, Uprising Platform has allowed me to connect with different people from various spheres of life- individuals from different creeds, races, and religions.  I genuinely do not take this for...

Life As Fjizzle: Cold Departure of Chubby Chops

Image
Often, one hopes for the best, but  unfortunately, what we get is the flip side. The other side of happiness, the other side of joy, togetherness, and oneness. It just doesn’t work out as thought, and leaves a crack in the heart. It aches further as the night chameleons to day and the week transcends into months, you desire those heartwarming moments once again, but it’s gone.   Gone with the wind, gone with the moment as you stare at the cold departure of warmth, a safe space.   Fjizzle You can’t really explain, but you just have to admit that it’s gone. Gone for the best, gone to find rest in the ethereal , finding solace among vigor and essence of another. Life is fickle. What once tickled and chuckled now has you hooked in a crossroads, contemplating what’s really worth fighting for or simply coming to terms with the cold departure of the scintillating chubby chops chopsticks you enjoyed chewing often.   Wallflower You pounced on it as it viciou...

Life As Fjizzle: …No Bed of Roses

Image
I have failed a lot in my life, as a matter of fact, as I speak with you from this exam hall, I write with a broken heart because no matter how much I succeed, the failures from all I don’t want to remember still taunt me.  There are days when I think life should be a bit kinder and more thoughtful towards me, but that'll be being an ungrateful charlatan. I sometimes wish my life were a bit simpler, but to hell with my excuses’s life isn’t a bed of roses, and it’ll deal with me accordingly.   Testipide Life isn’t a bed of roses, nor is it a garden of thorns; it’s the unraveling of daily struggles, wins, and conflict between choosing what’s wrong or right. Under the rain or in the sun, life goes on, transitioning from one phase to another. It’s nonstop, in my native Yoruba language , an adage goes, ‘ Ojo iku ni Ojo isimi’, which loosely translates to ‘ until our dying day, there’s no rest ’.   Life is sometimes peachy, other days, it is hazy, and I feel rea...

Joie De Vivre: Enjoy Your Life, Gee

Image
Enjoy your life, gee.   Enjoy the little things that life has to offer, enjoy the moment, and everything in between.  You find the beauty of magnanimity in the little moments; therefore, don’t take this life too firmly to the chest.   Cupcake This life is yours, it’s your number ONE mental point of origin; therefore, nurture your nature and take care of the beautiful possessions in your life.   Go out there and have a good time, experience the beauty and warmth of God’s creation. It shouldn’t matter the environment or location, do well to go outside and touch the grass, inhale the aroma that emanates in the air, stay steady, and find peace in the beauty of humanity.  Mount the meal Attend parties, gulp the cup of champagne, and listen to loud music with your buddies- go ahead and talk to your love interest, follow through, and see how it goes.  We are here for a minute, you are only as young as the minute; therefore, swing and embark on...

August The 3rd: To Those Who Have No Dream

Image
This piece of work is for those who have no dream, those who have been seen as the butt of every joke, the forgotten, the screwups, and the broken-hearted. This is for those who lie awake at night seeking inspiration in positive spaces, waging war against their negative emotions and internal turmoil, and instigating conundrums in their minds.  This is for those who feel lost and can’t be found; they are everywhere but nowhere- those who stare into the deep waters and have heinous thoughts, dreaming is free, and nightmares can be chaotic; therefore, don’t find solace in the emptiness hovering in your heart. This is your life; it belongs to you. Therefore, you'll be sure to win this war against your own demons. You’ll be fine, you’ll make it, of course, God has got you, you’re in God’s hands now. Be free to bounce and ball, share your ideas and visions with the world. This is your life, it’s your number one business, you’ll do something worthwhile with it, this I promise y...

August Two: The ‘F’ in Fajana Stands For Family, Fun… And Everything Inbetween

Image
The F in my surname, Fajana , stands for Family, Fun, Friends, and Familial endeavors. I have fun for a living, and I live for fun. I am alive to cruise and ooze something beautiful and let loose.   I don’t lose, though, but in the words of my friend, Double Gee , who is also known as Jzty, “ He who is down needs fear no fall.” Over here, we don’t die, we multiply- with me, you can come as you are. Cruise with me, fly, and stay fine without fear of being judged. Barbecue This life belongs to us, we won’t be here forever, but for the moment; therefore, come let us live a little because this life is once and there is no second chances to our existence here, therefore, live it right. Let’s make do with what we have- visit some of the most beautiful cities across the world, talk to friends and family, catch up, and share those heartwarming moments together.   chin chin & cake We don’t have all the money in the world, but we have God, friends, and family. Co...

Life As Fjizzle: Me Against Me

Image
Every single day when I wake up, I give thanks to the Lord for the gift of a new day before staring at myself in the mirror and reminding myself that “ I am not where I want to be yet .” Be thankful, be graceful, but never forget that there is a light that we are in pursuit of, constantly. The battle between here and there is taking forever, and I hope I’m not simply meandering with the times. I hope I am doing all that I can, living truly and thoroughly through my potential, or I’m coasting through my existence. I hope I am becoming everything that God has designed me to be. I do not understand the struggle of each day, but it’s in my place to create a sense of purpose, belonging to an establishment, or creating one- it’s me against me. Every day, all day, the battle is within me. Adekunle Sunday-Fajana That’s just life; there’ll always be a war within myself. The feud for what’s wrong and what’s right, the resentment that comes from indecision, the anxiety that comes with v...

Life As Fjizzle: Adekunle Sunday-Fajana

Image
Fjizzle wakes up in the middle of the night and asks God to help him with the strength to make something of his life. With an aching heart, you can only be thankful for the privileges and grace that God has blessed you with. This article is coming up around 4:08am on Sunday morning, and I am  writing this piece in a shirt and a tie. Dressed up in a two-piece suit, I am fascinated by the epicureanism that surrounds me, with a glass of juice on the table, I chew my cookies along as I write about what hurts me the most. Life ought to be simple, worth living, nothing tedious, just the absolute embrace of all the beautiful things that God has bestowed upon us. Life As Fjizzle: Adekunle Sunday-Fajana In this moment, I am easily one of the happiest persons in the world- the trees, grass, and the grabbing of ass have made life interesting, life is what we make of it, and in this moment, I close my eyes to reminisce upon some of the most worthwhile highlights that my heart can reconne...
