Japa story: Understanding Why Nigerian Men Prefer Women Back Home to Those Abroad
Japa is a common theme amongst Nigerians both at home and abroad; everyone talks about it. Young Nigerians with a troubled heart aspire to 'Japa' and live the life they’ve always dreamed of. They want to escape the heinous rulership of Nigerian leaders and find a more prosperous environment where they can thrive and create a life worthwhile for themselves and possibly for their family members. Listening to other people’s Japa story is usually quite humorous to me. There are days you laugh at someone else’s story, and other times, you’re the laughing stock. I understood why men prefer to deal with their Nigerian counterparts rather than those with whom they reside or come across in Europe or North America.
