The Rice Story…

The Rice Story: Written by Peniel

I pay attention to details a little too much.

Today, I notice the few grains of rice left behind; those that didn’t make it into my stomach but ended up in the bin. Not because they weren’t important.

Some grains never made it past the washing stage. Some were lost on the farm, carried away with the chaff. Some slipped to the ground while being measured and sold. Others survived every obstacle, endured every process, and finally fulfilled their purpose.

The purpose of food is to be eaten, yet not every grain gets that privilege.

So, I think of those grains as silent soldiers. They were part of the journey, part of the sacrifice, even if they never reached the destination. Their loss made room for others to make it through.

Life is a lot like that.

The place you stand today may not seem extraordinary, but it isn’t a coincidence. Many sacrifices, some visible, some forgotten, helped pave the way. Some people, opportunities, efforts, and moments fell along the path so that you could arrive where you are now.

Appreciate the journey. Appreciate the sacrifices.

Not everyone who started with you made it to where you are, but their contribution still mattered.
