Interview With Mr Sayo: Life As A Tech Entrepreneur in Finland

Image
Let’s start from the beginning. Where are you from? I was born and raised in Ibadan, Oyo State , in a relatively middle-class family. I did my primary and secondary education there before moving to Ile-Ife to study at Obafemi Awolowo University . You didn’t start in tech. How did that transition happen? Tech personality, Oluwasayo Oladeji who is better known as Mr Sayo I initially gained admission to study Chemical Engineering . I liked chemistry a lot in secondary school and was quite good at it; I was even the laboratory prefect. Like many students, I assumed chemical engineering was basically advanced chemistry. That was a big misunderstanding. When I got to university, I realized chemical engineering was much more about engineering than chemistry, and I just didn’t enjoy it. By my third year, I knew I had to change course. I switched to Computer Engineering at the 400 level and had to repeat an academic year, but it was absolutely worth it. Stylin' and Profilin': What Should You Really Spend Your Money On?

Image
Spend your money on whatever you want. If you worked for the funds, then you deserve to squander on whatever vanity pleases you. I was at the mall last Saturday after getting paid, and I was just walking around various stores as I was looking for what to spend my money on. At the New Yorker's store, I was one of the most beautiful pairs of shoes, jean shirts, shorts, jackets, and other fashionable items. Always chasing to make money isn't sustainable; therefore, I need to find methodologies that could help me earn enough funds and build a system that would always help me serve in seasons of need and wants. Stylin' and Profilin': What Should You Really Spend Your Money On? For someone who isn't married yet, I would say that what you spend your money...

A Cold Night in Helsinki

Image
It was around 3:30 am in Kampi , the central part of Helsinki city . It was snowing heavily, and I had just missed the final bus that would have taken me home; I was as broke as a shattered plate on the kitchen floor, I was out in the cold, and I was experiencing one of the cruellest realities during my time in the capital city of Finland . I've experienced so many highs since coming to the Northern part of Europe; it's the absolute opposite of everything that my home country represents. There is constant light here, the transport system is impeccable, and the standard of living is almost similar to the one preachers often describe when talking about heaven; however, when it comes to the weather, it's nefarious on the skin of a black-skinned person such as myself.  A cold night in Helsinki You could become a frozen turkey if you are not properly dressed, and your fingers would almost become numb if your gloves are not thick enough. Back to the recent episode of how I ended...

What Happens in Lagos Stays in Lagos: Life After Detty December

Image
The Detty December season has concluded, days after planning, strategizing, and the announcement of the biggest season in Lagos and across other parts of Nigeria has been put on a shelf. Everyone has resumed their respective duties, and the I Just Got Back (IJGB) merchants have returned to the various countries from which they came. They've attended concerts organized by some of Nigeria's major entertainers, gone to the beach in Lagos State, and have been able to reconnect with long-lost friends and family members. Since the turn of the 2020s, the Detty December celebration officially gained prominence, becoming one of the most voraciously anticipated periods of the year. The season prompted several Nigerians to return home for the holidays and enjoy some of the country's finest offerings, from nightlife to musical events and other cultural activities that can only be found in the most populous black nation in the world.  The puffy face of Detty December A lot of Nigerian...
