A woolly mammoth is a large, extinct species of mammoth that lived during the Ice Age. These prehistoric creatures were closely related to modern elephants and were known for their long, curved tusks and thick, shaggy fur that helped them survive in cold climates.

They went extinct around 4,000 years ago, though scientists are exploring the possibility of bringing them back through de-extinction efforts using DNA and cloning technology.
