Background Story:

Hi there, I’m Oluwatosin Solabi. I was born in Lagos State and graduated from Bowen University, Iwo, in Osun State.

How did you develop an interest in creating nightlife/parties across Lagos state?

It’s funny how it all started. My birthday is in January, and I usually plan a birthday gathering to celebrate. At my last party, I got so many responses from people saying how much they enjoyed the games we played. They kept telling me I shouldn’t limit gatherings like that to just my birthday. That was my lightbulb moment—and that’s how Games with Drip T was born.

Tell Us The Genre of Your Parties?

First things first: the game nights I plan aren’t the kind that start with statements like, "We are all adults," if you know what I mean.

The game nights my team and I organize are all about fostering genuine, in-person connections. We focus on creating an environment where people can truly engage with those around them without the distraction of mobile devices or gadgets. Our priority is ensuring everyone is having a great time and staying fully involved in the games being played.

Visions: what you want to achieve with your nightlife projects

My goal is to create an environment where people can come, have fun, and stay fully engaged from the start of the event to the very end. Over time, I’ve noticed that at many events, attendees often lose interest because the activities aren’t engaging enough. However, I’ve been able to achieve a consistent level of engagement with my community of gamers, ensuring they’re actively involved throughout.

Challenges of hosting games/nightlife events

Where do I even begin? Hosting events in Lagos, regardless of the size, is not for the faint-hearted. I personally approach every event from an experience perspective, constantly asking myself, “If I were attending this event, what kind of experience would I want to have?” This mindset plays a huge role in curating my game nights.

That being said, I’m incredibly fortunate to have an amazing team—they’re the real MVPs! They make hosting my game nights much less challenging than they could be.

One major hurdle, though, is inflation. The ever-changing prices of things can pose significant challenges when planning, but we always find a way to make it work.
