Uprising Interview: The Man Who Will Rescue Afrobeats- Meet Big Stoney!

 Big Stoney, otherwise known as Scarpe, discussed his passion for music, Afrobeats, and creating memorable tunes for his audience across the globe in a conversation with The Uprising Platform. Emerging from the city of Ibadan, Big Stoney wants to enthrall listeners with his captivating lyrics and sway them with the epicurean sound coming from his studio.

A guitarist and singer-songwriter, Big Stoney is looking to get signed and become the next big recording artiste to emerge from the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Who Is Big Stoney?

My name is Lucien Gladness, popularly known as BigStoney (okuta akin), and I am a musical artist, producer, instrumentalist, and entrepreneur from Ibadan, Nigeria.

Growing up in a musical family, I was exposed to various genres, but Afrobeats always resonated with me. I studied Computer Science at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, but my passion for music led me to pursue a career in the industry.

Passion: Interests, Artistic Endeavors, and How I Got into Music?





Music has always been my escape. I started experimenting with playing the guitar after high school, teaching myself how to play chords with two fingers and learning the scale. My favorite artists include Michael Jackson, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and lots more, who have inspired me to create my unique sound. I officially began my music career by releasing my Debut single titled SURU BSL on all streaming platforms.

 

Story So Far: Where I Am Now in My Career?

Currently, I'm unsigned to a record label and have released 2 successful singles. My music has been featured on popular playlists, and I've collaborated with other emerging artists. I've also performed at various events, which has helped me build a loyal fan base.

 

Objectives: What I Intend to Achieve with My Music and How I'll Define Success?

My goal is to become a leading figure in the Music industry scene, known for my unique sound and live performances. I define success as creating music that resonates with my audience, collaborating with international artists, and winning awards that recognize my talent.

 


Conclusion: Future Projects, Upcoming Events, and Vision for My Brand

I'm working on my debut EP, which will feature a collaboration with another artist.

My vision is to establish a music empire that promotes emerging artists and produces high-quality content.
