The love story of Adeni Brown
One
of the happiest moments of my life is watching a lady receive the treatment she
deserves. Meeting with a man who would give her everything that she has always
desired and admired, this is to Adeni Brown- the lady with the brown colored
pristine eyes, if beauty were a person, she embodied it.
Back at 17, she had a baby on the way, heck, a set of twins. The 19-year-old boy
who impregnated her, of course, wasn’t ready at the time, hence, she had to go
through the phase herself.
When I first met her, she was 25, while I was 21 going to 22, it was almost 2
weeks to my birthday in August and she swept me off my feet with the gift she
acquired for me- cake, Van cleef wrist chain and the heaviness that comes with
the night sessions; I mean, it was worth every moment. Her vivacious brown eyes
served as my antidepressant. Each morning when we wake, we spread cakes as our
backs ache.
All was great until one day she mentioned she wanted to ‘get married’. I knew it wouldn’t be me, so who’s the man?
Guess who?
It was Dr. Mike from her fellowship, fair game. He’s much richer, older, and more comprehensive in his masculinity than I am or ever will be. I asked if he knew about her kids, and she said, "Definitely, that’s absolutely fine. Then, I am not God; I don’t decide the fate of anyone. Hence, like a bullet from a gun, the utterance pierced through my marrow. Sadly, good things must come to an end.
It is what it is.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks, I was at her wedding ceremony; she was walking down the aisle with Dr Mike. Tears in their eyes, I’m happy for their love story; glad she could find a common ground with life and love, someone who is prepared to build a family with her and her twins. Like a proud father, I admired from a distance. Slowly, I faded from the moment. It was the last time I laid my eyes on Adeni, for a kindhearted young lady, she deserves to be with someone who would give her the life she genuinely desired and admired.
Indeed, all things are beautiful in their time. I wasn’t here for a long time, just a good time. Thanks for the memories.
Adeni Brown.
